How do I edit my fundraiser?

Open your fundraiser page, then click “Fundraiser settings” to change the photo, the description or the options.

How will I know when someone contributes?

You receive an email for every new contribution, unless you have turned notifications off. In “Fundraiser management” you can see the list of contributors, thank them or send them a reminder.

How do I send a reminder to the people I invited?

On your fundraiser page, click “Fundraiser management”, then send a reminder to the people you invited.

Who can leave a message on the fundraiser?

The organiser and contributors who have an account can leave a message. Each person can post one.

How do I thank contributors?

On your fundraiser page, click “Reply” under the contributor’s comment.

Can a contributor get a refund?

A contribution is final, except in the event of an outage or an internal technical problem. In that case, write to hello@koti-kota.com and give the contributor’s email address.

The refund, excluding operating fees, is made within 15 working days.

How do I close my fundraiser?

Log in to your account, open your fundraiser page and click “Close”. Closing is final: nobody can contribute afterwards.

How do I delete my fundraiser?

Ask for the deletion by email at hello@koti-kota.com, once you have collected the funds.

What fees apply when the fundraiser is closed?

Creating a fundraiser and contributing to one are free. A commission is taken from the amount collected when it is paid out: 3% for a personal fundraiser and 6% for a charity fundraiser. Transfer fees are deducted from the amount paid out and are borne by the beneficiary.

When can I collect the money from my fundraiser?

You can request the payout once the fundraiser is closed, by email to hello@koti-kota.com.

How long do I have to use the money?

You have 21 days from the closing date to use the money from your fundraiser.

How do I receive the money?

You can receive the funds by bank transfer, by Orange Money or by PayPal.

When will I receive my transfer?

After your request, you receive a confirmation email. The transfer arrives within 72 working hours of that email.

The payout is only made once your identity document has been verified. If no valid document is provided within 30 days of closing a personal fundraiser, contributions are refunded to the contributors.

Is there a fee to contribute to a fundraiser?

Koti Kota adds no contribution fee. By card, PayPal takes its payment fees (about 2.9% + €0.35): Koti Kota keeps none of it, and the fundraiser receives the net amount, converted at the Koti Kota rate (Central Bank of Madagascar rate minus 2%). The amount the fundraiser will receive is shown before you pay. The minimum by card is €5. By Orange Money, the operator’s fees are added to your contribution.

How do I contribute to a fundraiser?

1. Enter your details or log in with Facebook or Google.

2. Choose the amount of your contribution.

3. Select one of the payment methods offered.

4. Choose whether your name and the amount should appear on the fundraiser.

5. Enter the information requested to confirm the payment. The organiser is then informed of your contribution.

What should I do if my contribution does not appear?

Write to us at hello@koti-kota.com and give the email address you used to contribute. We will check the payment.

Can I hide my name or the amount of my contribution?

Yes. You can choose to hide your name, the amount given, or both.

To change your choice after payment, open the confirmation email and click “Edit your contribution details”.

Is my payment secure?

Yes. Card payments are processed by PayPal and mobile payments by Orange Money. Koti Kota never sees or stores your card number.

Will I receive a payment confirmation?

Yes, a confirmation is sent to you by email. If you cannot find it, check your spam folder. You can also write to us at hello@koti-kota.com.

What is the difference between a public and a private fundraiser?

A public fundraiser can be found on the Internet, even without the link. It is easier to share.

A private fundraiser is not listed on the Internet. Only people who have the link can access it.

What are the conditions for creating a fundraiser?

You must be 18. An identity document (national ID card or passport) is requested before a charity fundraiser goes live, and when the funds are paid out for a personal fundraiser. If you set a goal, it must be at least 10,000 Ar.

Violent, racist or pornographic content is not allowed and may lead to the fundraiser being closed.

Is there a fee to create a fundraiser?

When do I have to provide proof of identity?

For a personal fundraiser, no document is requested at creation: an identity document in your name is required when you collect the funds, after closing. For a charity fundraiser, it is requested at creation and checked within 48 working hours, before the fundraiser goes live. This check helps fight fraud, money laundering and the financing of terrorism.

Depending on the project, additional documents may be requested before the funds are paid out, in particular for a public, charity or business fundraiser.

Do I need an account to open a fundraiser?

Yes. A Koti Kota account is required to create and manage a fundraiser.

How do I create my Koti Kota account?

Click “Register / Login”, then enter your details. You will receive an email to confirm your address. You can also sign up with Facebook or Google.

Can I customise my fundraiser after creating it?

Yes. You can add or change the photo, the description and the options of your fundraiser after creating it. A clear presentation helps your friends and family understand your project.

When should I enter my bank details?

You can add your bank details at any time in the “My bank details” section.

Which contribution mode should I choose?

You can choose between three modes: free (everyone chooses their amount), suggested (an amount is proposed, but everyone remains free) or fixed (the same amount applies to everyone).

What happens if the goal is not reached?

The goal is indicative. When the fundraiser is closed, contributions stop and the amount collected is paid out according to the terms you chose.

If a contributor asks for a refund, the person who received the funds (creator or beneficiary) arranges the refund. Operating fees are not refunded.

Who can access my fundraiser?

A public fundraiser can be found on the Internet. A private fundraiser is not listed and can only be accessed by people who have its link.

Who can see the list of contributors?

The list is visible, unless a contributor chooses to give anonymously or you hide the names in the fundraiser settings.

Who can see the amount collected?

The amount is visible by default. You can choose to hide it in the fundraiser settings.

How do I invite contributors?

From your fundraiser page, use a share button, send an invitation by email or copy the unique link to share it wherever you like.

How do I add a list of contacts?

On your fundraiser page, click “Invite”, then add your contacts manually or import a list.
